On behalf of the European Space Agency, we are looking for a highly skilled Design Support Engineer to work in ESTEC, in the Netherlands.
What is expected from you:
- Actively monitor the activities of the HRE Science Data Centre (SDC).
- Coordinate the interaction with SDC and ESAC for bi-weekly HREDA Technical Meetings
- Support the HRE interactions with other archiving systems (e.g. NASA Genelab, etc.).
- Technically assess the HREDA IT capabilities and their evolution towards Agency-to Agency, Agency-to-ESA Member State(s), AgencyDirectorate-to-Directorate cooperations and needs.
- Foster the IT evolution of the HREDA IT environment (e.g. ESA Datalabs initiative), such that HRE offers an accessible, easy-to-use and powerful dissemination platform.
- Liaise with the Artificial Intelligence / software development team (HRE-FI), to leverage the datasets hosted in HREDA
- Maintain an up-to-date technical dossier about the HRE Archiving IT environment, and its related processes (e.g. Data Ingestion, Digital Object Identifiers (DOI’s management, etc.
- In cooperation with the ESAC team, consolidate the HRE reporting needs from the HREDA IT environment, via the definition of dedicated web-based dashboards.
- Assist the user communities and the ESA teams in facilitating their use of the HREDA IT environment.
- Maintain a good understanding and consolidate an overview of the data valorisation initiatives / efforts supported by other space research entities (e.g. thematic research databanks).
- Contribute to the HRE archiving reporting in the frame of the Long-Term Data Heritage (i.e. Heritage Space Data) programme.
- Support the HRE Archiving Panel activities (virtual meetings on a bi-monthly basis).
What you offer:
- 5 years of experience in aerospace sector
- A master’s degree level in relevant STEM discipline
- Knowledge and experience of ECSS
- Experience in space projects/ operations

Where:
You will be working within ESTEC, the European Space Agency’s offices in the Netherlands as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium. We don’t expect the employees to be on-site full time however you will still have to relocate to the Netherlands for this position.
