On behalf of the European Space Agency, we are looking for a highly skilled Harness Engineer to work in ESTEC, in the Netherlands.
What is expected from you:
- Support to definition and assessment of EMC design, performance, and verification.
- Support to definition and assessment of harness design, performance, manufacturing, and verification requirements.
- Support to harness reviews and assessments from early design to manufacturing, verification and integration.
- Support to feasibility studies, project reviews and evaluation of procurement proposals.
- Support to evaluation of harness test results, non-conformances including NCR review and request for waivers and deviations.
- Support to resolution of critical harness development problems.
- Support to inspection of harness manufacturing activities and facilities, also off site (mainly Europe).
- Support technical officers in the planning, definition, initiation, and management of R&D activities.
- Support to education and outreach activities.
- Support to internal training of stagiaires, interns, and Young Graduate Trainees.
- Support TEC-EPE laboratory and facility managers in harness-related laboratory activities.
- Support to creation or tailoring of electronic CAD models of harness.
- Support to technical officers for software maintenance, e.g.
- Software updates
- Bug-fixing in scripts and source codes.
- Documentation of the work including applied methods and techniques.
- Support to preparation of standards and handbooks with respect to harness.
- Support to dissemination of results of the activities performed via:

- EP Wiki
- TEC DMS
- Goldmine Shared Drive
- SharePoint
- Weekly EMC and Harness Team meetings
- ESA-organized conferences and workshops related to electrical harness.
What you offer:
- A master's degree / Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Aerospace Engineering (or comparable).
- Industrial or Agency experience in spacecraft EMC system and equipment engineering.
- Acquaintance with industrial EMC practices and Agency review processes
- Experience in assessing EMC specifications, EMC control plans, test and verification plans, EMC test results, and EMC analyses.
- Successful EMC troubleshooting.
- Expertise with analogue electronics design or electromagnetic simulation is considered an asset.
- Profound expertise in harness electrical & mechanical engineering
- Experience in assessing harness specifications, engineering & manufacturing documentation and test results.
- Practical expertise in creating and/or evaluating harness CAD models
- Successful Harness troubleshooting.
- Acquaintance with relevant harness standards, e.g. ECSS and IPC.
- Good understanding of harness manufacturing, assembly, integration and verification/testing activities and related processes considered an asset.
- Experience of working on projects within industry is considered an asset
- NEN3140 – Skilled Person / Installation Responsible (TBC).

Where:
You will be working within ESTEC, the European Space Agency’s offices in the Netherlands as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium. We don’t expect the employees to be on-site full time however you will still have to relocate to the Netherlands for this position.
